On June 21st, the Science Alliance of the Pilot Zone of the Comprehensive National Science Center in the Greater Bay Area was established. Over ten thousand scientific researchers will exchange and interact between Guangming Science center and Songshan Lake Science center. The two cities of Shenzhen and Dongguan are actively planning the construction and development of regional transportation infrastructure, accelerating the creation of a "15-minute transportation circle" between the two cities.
In the future, the metro networks of Shenzhen and Dongguan will achieve seamless cross-city transfer. Dongguan Metro Line 1 will directly connect to Shenzhen Metro Line 6, and Line 3 will link up with Shenzhen Metro Line 11, with Songshan Lake becoming a hub where three lines converge. Citizens will be able to take the metro directly to Qianhai in Shenzhen and Hong Kong. A brand-new intercity express rail is planned to depart from the central station of Wanjiang in Dongguan, pass through Songshan Lake and reach Qianhai in Shenzhen, with the potential to extend to Guangzhou. The one-hour living circle in the Greater Bay Area will become within easy reach.
Shenzhen and Dongguan decided to build a land transportation network consisting of one high-speed railway line, two intercity express rails and one main road to support the in-depth integration and rapid development of the science cities in both places. The new main road connecting Guangming Science center and Songshan Lake Science center, which is about to be constructed, will be connected to Dongguan Science Avenue (with six lanes in both directions) via the northward extension of Nanshiguang Expressway and Guangqiao Road (with eight lanes in both directions). The total length of the road is approximately 13 kilometers and it is expected to have a traffic capacity of 9,000 vehicles per hour after completion.
